Longarm Services & Rates

Turnaround Time

My current turnaround time is approximately 3–4 weeks from the date your quilt is physically received.

If your requested completion date is within 30 days, please email tgappareldesigns@gmail.com before submitting your quilt to confirm availability.

Rush quilting requests may be available depending on current scheduling and are subject to additional fees. Rush pricing is typically calculated at an additional $0.01 per square inch.

Minimum Quilting Charge

A minimum quilting charge of $55 applies to each quilt.

If the calculated square-inch quilting price is less than $55 (such as for small quilts, wall hangings, or table runners), the total will be adjusted to meet the minimum charge. This covers the time required to load, quilt, and unload each project.

Edge-to-Edge Quilting Pricing

▪️Standard edge-to-edge quilting: $0.029 per square inch

▪️Dense edge-to-edge quilting (small-scale or high-density designs): +$0.005 per square inch

If your selected pantograph falls into the dense category, pricing will always be confirmed before quilting begins.

Custom quilting is not available at this time.

How to Calculate Quilting Cost

1. Multiply the length × width of your quilt top (in inches)

2. Multiply the total square inches by $0.029

Example: Quilt size: 60" × 80"

▪️60 × 80 = 4,800 square inches

▪️4,800 × $0.029 = $139.20

Thread Selection

Glide thread is used for all quilting projects.

Thread color is typically selected to blend with the lighter areas of the quilt top for a balanced and cohesive finish. However, thread preference is personal, and specific color requests are always welcome whenever possible.

Quilt Dimensions

For pricing purposes, all quilt measurements containing fractions (¼, ½, ¾, etc.) are rounded up to the next whole inch.

Example: A quilt measuring 72.50" × 88.75" would be rounded to 73" × 89" for pricing calculations.

Maximum Quilt Size

My longarm frame accommodates quilts up to approximately 120 inches wide. Quilts wider than this may not be able to be loaded safely for quilting.

If your quilt exceeds 120 inches in width, please email tgappareldesigns@gmail.com before submitting your intake form to discuss available options.

Batting Pricing

Batting is charged by the linear inch and cut from a 93-inch-wide queen-size roll, unless a special-order batting is requested. Batting is not included in the per-square-inch quilting price.

If your quilt is longer than 93 inches and you plan to purchase batting through T&G Apparel Designs, please email tgappareldesigns@gmail.com before submitting your quilt.

Batting is cut based on the shorter side of the quilt plus 6 inches to allow for proper loading and quilting.

Example: For a quilt measuring 60" × 80":

▪️60" + 6" = 66 linear inches of batting required

▪️66 × $0.40 = $26.40 batting cost

Available Batting Options

▪️Quilters Dream Select 80/20 Cotton/Poly – Natural: $0.40 per linear inch

If you would like a special-order batting (wool, bamboo, etc.), please email for availability and pricing.

Backing Fabric Requirements

To ensure the best quilting results, backing fabric must extend beyond the quilt top on all sides for proper loading and quilting.

Minimum Backing Requirements:

▪️Cotton backing fabrics must be at least 8 inches wider and 8 inches longer than the quilt top

▪️This provides a minimum 4-inch margin on all sides

Example: If your quilt top measures 60" × 80", your backing fabric must be at least 68" × 88".

Backing fabric may be larger than the minimum requirement, but not smaller.

Minky & Stretch Backings:

Minky, fleece, Cuddle, and other stretch/non-cotton backings must be at least 10 inches wider and 10 inches longer than the quilt top to allow for additional handling and reduce shifting during quilting.

Backing that does not meet these requirements may delay your project or require additional adjustments and charges.

Quilts with Minky, fleece, Cuddle, or other non-cotton/stretch backings are subject to a $20 surcharge due to the additional handling and quilting time required.

Binding Services

Binding service options are priced per linear inch based on the perimeter of the quilt.

▪️Level 1 ($0.08 per linear inch) – Attach Only (One Side)
Customer-provided binding is attached to either the front or back of the quilt.

▪️Level 2 ($0.15 per linear inch) – Make & Attach (One Side)
Binding is made using customer-provided fabric and attached to either the front or back of the quilt.

▪️Level 3 ($0.20 per linear inch) – Attach Both Sides (Customer Binding)
Customer-provided binding is attached to both the front and back of the quilt for a fully machine-finished binding.

▪️Level 4 ($0.25 per linear inch) – Full-Service Binding (Fully Finished)
Binding is made using customer-provided fabric and attached to both the front and back of the quilt for a fully machine-finished binding.

Trimming Options

        1. Trim & Square: Quilt is trimmed and squared with straight edges and 90° corners, ready for binding.

        2. Trim Only: Excess batting and backing are trimmed to the quilt edge without squaring adjustments.

        3. No Trimming: Quilt is returned with batting and backing intact. Customer assumes responsibility for trimming and squaring.

Trimmings larger than 4 inches in width will be returned with your completed quilt. Smaller trimmings will be discarded.

Complimentary Quilt Label

A complimentary embroidered triangle quilt label is available upon request. Heat n Bond Lite will be applied to the back of the label, and instructions will be included.

Labels are not applied to the quilt and will be returned unattached for the customer to apply.

Shipping & Insurance

Completed quilts are returned via USPS or UPS at the customer’s expense unless local pickup has been arranged. All return shipments include:

▪️$100 of insurance coverage

▪️A tracking number

If you would like additional insurance coverage for the full value of your quilt, please indicate this on your intake form. Additional insurance costs will be added to your final invoice.

Insurance Guideline

When determining your preferred coverage amount, consider both the value of your quilt materials and the estimated quilting cost.

Example

▪️Quilt materials: $150

▪️Quilting services: $120

▪️Recommended insurance amount: $270

Additional Costs & Taxes

Batting is priced separately and is not included in the per-square-inch quilting rate.

As required by the State of Virginia, a 5.3% sales tax will be added to all applicable quilting services.

Additional Service Charges

The following charges apply only when additional time, labor, or special handling is required.
